Sound fade with camera's promixity

How do I make a sound increase as the camera gets closer to it? Similarly, how do I make a sound decrease as the camera gets further away from it?

Where your sound command is, there is also a "volume level" for that specific sound. Put the volume level as a variable, and have a bunch of if statements going so that it will set itself tothe appropriate volume depending on camera distance.

I'm a little confused. I don't have much experience with variables. After I click "create new variable," I click "other," and then "sound?" or should I click position? Could you please give me a simple step by step on this? And also, where is the "sound command" you mentioned?
