Animated Gif's

I don't know if this is right, but would making an animated gif using the same methods as the smoke object work?

like this

1. decompile the frames used in the gif

2. open Alice and load a square

3. set the squares skin texture to the first or neutral frame

4. create the basic command (when a key is typed)

5. create the same variable type as the animated smoke object.

just wanted to know if that would work
