Does this site even manage to exist. You are all retarded. If you didn't learn this entire "language" in a few hours, then you should probably just quit programming all together. This entire software is a complete JOKE and it won't teach you anything that is actually needed for programming.

That's something only a narrow-minded old-schooler would say. As someone who learned programming the hard way, you just can't understand why other people can't do it the way you did it, right?

Well, as a guy who learned programming by taking two tough years of Java, I can rightly say that using Alice accomplishes 2 things:

1. It provides a MUCH smoother transition from no programming knowledge to some programming knowledge. Instead of starting with a strange jumbling of reserved words and curly brackets, you start out with drag-n-drop tiles and objects you can actually SEE.

2. It's the quickest way I know to turn a conceptual idea into a tangible program. Games comparable to Resident Penguin are abundant on the web, but most of them took months to write. It took me one week. If you have an idea for a story or a game, the best way to flesh it out and see what it'll look like in reality is by making it into an Alice world.

The question I ask myself: How can people who are intelligent enough to comprehend a mentally intensive field such as programming not see the use of an application like Alice?

You probably never tried Alice. Just because you know more than Alice teaches, does not mean yoru better, it may but Alice is good so !!!shhs
