Question Game I'm making won't play anymore - 03-10-2010, 12:42 PM

I have to make a game for this project for school, and i had it working for a while how i wanted.
and yeah i did kind of steal the M4A1 with the hands from someone else's FPS program, but i'm just doing this for school not trying to act like it's my own, so don't hate me lol.

but anyways it's set up with a bunch of squares and words and a button on the screen that disappear when the button is pushed.

and all of a sudden I came to school and tried it one day and it just came up with the "Error during simulation" box when i pressed the start button.
Then, the next time you try to play the game, alice just freezes up and doesn't load the game, so you have to restart alice completely.

I'm lost and i don't know what the problem is, please help

yah you stole it from my FPS engine, but i did not make the hands although im the only one who posted a project with them yet.

This is a rare problem. Some one else had this problem too and we could not fix it, but could just give as many solutions as possible. If could be something in your code, but you said it does not work at your school...what version of alice is at your school and what are you using at home.

Officially, the models and images used in Alice, unless they were created ENTIRELY by the poster, are not owned by the poster, they're owned by whoever created them. In fact, if you want to get technical, people who use imported models should be giving credit in their worlds (or in their posts) to the original creators to avoid breaking the usage rights (though some models have unrestricted usage rights, like the German weapons I recently posted).

That's actually what I plan to do in RP4 is give credit to all the programs, modelers, sound techs, and painters (texture makers?) who made something I used in RP4. If not for legal reasons, simply out of respect for their hard work.

If you want to get really techical with most free 3d model sites the person who made the renounce all ownership of the model and actually become property of the hosting site. Although the hosting site then does not care what is done with the model.

You should ask if the program be updated to Alice 2.2. Lots of bugs have been fixed and it's much faster. It should be fairly easy to supply it to the other computers as well since Alice is a standalone program.
