Using Alice and BlueJ for AP A exam

Hi,
I am considering using Alice to introduce students to programming and then switch to Java Using BlueJ . I am looking for advice to plan a program with an early intro using Alice, move to Blue J using Java and whether or not a student can get ready to take the AP A computer science course using these two products? Any ideas? Any success with this approach? I have two highly motivated students who may be up for the challenge.
