Default Trouble with axises - 10-08-2010, 01:38 PM

Hi I'm new to alice, but I really like it. I'm using Alice 2.0 and I'm simply trying to make a bunny hop. So I did this in four step, a crouch, a leap, a land and a prepare to crouch. but when that bunny crouches the axis turns with its body so when I want it to go forward it goes into the ground and the up is at a angle. how do I correct this so the axis are what they were originally?

When you tell the bunny to go forward, press the arrow at the right of that code and there should be some options, one of them is "As seen by". Choose that and then choose something that is parallel to the ground. Maybe it is the bunny's feet, so do "As seen by (bunny.feet)". I was going to say do is "As seen by (ground)", but that wouldn't work if the bunny can change directions.

Use the stand up method.

But I think he wants the bunny to stay in the tilted pose while it moves forward. If you stand it up, won't it make the bunny rotate upward, and then move forward?

Oh that's a good Idea Thanks. I had tried the "as seen by the ground" and ran into that exact problem. Maybe I'll put his ear perpendicular to the ground or something

I thought he just wanted to make the bunny turn so that it was perpendicular to the ground. Whoops for me.

Good stuff D.

I would still like to know how (or if it is even possible) to reset the bunny's axises while allowing the bunny to be tilted forward.

Yeah I think that you can create a dummy object and right before you have the bunny jump, make the dummy move to the bunny, you might have to do other stuff like "orient to" or something like that, try different things to see how each method is different. Anyways, once you have the axis moved to the bunny, and oriented to his direction (while still being parallel to the ground), you can just move the bunny forward as seen by the dummy object's axis.

It would be so much simpler if you could just set the dummy object's vehicle to the bunny, but that would also make the axis of the dummy object turn forward the same way that the bunny does, which would defeat the whole purpose.
