Shaydon: LOL, yeah I just happened to be walking down the street and found $3,000, NOT. I wish I could! It looks sweet! But I do not even have a fraction of that money!

I have another question since my computer already has 4GB of ram (I know this for a fact) Do I need to buy any more?

If so could you recommend a good one?

Is this even practical?

Should I just get the other things that you totaled at $110 ?

Would it be cheaper just to buy the graphics and ram?

Which way would be more effective?

Thanks!
Alien Ware....hahahaha.....all you need is a couple thousand dollars

It would be more practical to just upgrade the computer you currently have. It would cost a lot less than buying a whole new computer. You could get a seperate gaming computer and hook it up to your laptop monitor, but that would cost more than $1000. Upgrading would be much more worth it.

Yes jediaction, the NVIDIA 9400 GT graphics card would fix that error, however you cannot install it into your laptop because your laptop does not have a PCI x16 port for it. The graphics card itself if probably half the size of your laptop, there would be nowhere to fit it.

You probably have an integrated graphics card, if you do thats alright, theres still probably room for you to put another one in there. Just as long as you still have a PCI x16 port in your motherboard, you can buy a new graphics card thats a lot better than the one you have now and install it.

My graphics card was integrated too, but as soon as I installed the new one, my computer just ran off of the new one and is ignoring the integrated one even though its still in there.

Question Ps3? - 08-31-2010, 07:17 PM

How many Gigs are really necessary to play FPS's 3rd person shooters and go online and play with others?

Like there is a 120GB (same price as 160), a 160GB $299, and 250GB $350.

I think I will go with the 160GB but is it worth it to spend $50 more dollars and get the 250GB?

Nooo, that is hard drive space. You don't need a lot of hard drive space to run games, all that does is determine how many games you can fit onto your computer. You need DDR2 RAM to play games. I had 4 GB RAM in my computer, but I recently bought 4 more GB costing me $100. All you really need is 4 (unless you have vista 64 bit, then maybe 6 or 8 like me). Certain computers are only compatible with certain types of RAM, so if you want me to tell you what the best RAM to buy is, tell me the exact model of your computer. For instance mine is a an HP Pavilion a6838f. From there I can research and see what RAM will fit into your computer.

Also tell me how much RAM you already have. To find out go to "My Computer' and then click the tab that says "System Properties", and it should say Memory. If you can't find that, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete for the Task Manager, then go to the "Performance" tab and look at the number next to "Physical Memory (Mb): Total", it will be in the thousands, for instance 2000 would be 2 GB of memory.

Also, make sure you actually check to make sure there is a PCI x16 port in your motherboard so that a video card can fit into it. Also, the harddrive you have now is probably good enough to store games on, as long as it is more than 50GB.

Those harddrive prices you listed are rediculous though! 250GB for $350? Oh wait, are you talking about buying a PS3?? Maybe thats it why you listed those prices... Now I feel like it was a waste writing all of the above, oh well i'm not going to delete it.

Default Yes that was the PS3! - 09-01-2010, 09:19 PM

Those were prices for PS3 consoles!

Can you tell me if my laptop has a slot for a graphics card?

I have a ASUS K50IJ series running vista premium. 4GB of RAM. 250GB of Hard drive.

This Computer still has everything it originally came with, meaning i have not upgraded any of the actual parts of it.

I love how my question just got buried.

Well, I'm going to see what 2 extra gigs of ram can do. I'm not expecting miracles, but it'd be nice to be able to play some of the more modern-ish PC games.

What makes a computer run graphics good is really the graphics card, and since laptops cannot upgrade graphics card (idk, maybe they can, research it), then they can't really play high end games like Call of Duty (unless you get the gaming laptops). First play a game like Alien Swarm, and if that plays perfectly on highest settings, then you should be good for the other games like CoD. If you have to run it on medium or low settings and it still runs slow and choppy, then theres no way you can run the good games on your computer.
