There is a guy on youtube that goes by the name thenewboston, he has amazing tutorials that will help you start out all the way to advance options in java and I believe in other languages as well. So if you like to learn by watching, that is one good way to go(plaus he uses eclipse)
Eclipse really isn't that hard, in fact it is awesome because it is so good at realtime error checking and has a lot of cool features that make it much easier to code.
