Need help importing custom object in Alice 3
I have never used Alice 2 before but apparently you could import .ASE files by clicking "import" under the file tab in order to create your own objects. It would be great if this feature could be added in Alice 3 or at least a feature like it. I looked through the complete "How-To Guide" for Alice 3 for help and did find mention of something called constructors, but I cannot figure out how to use the feature. I also noticed a folder called "my classes" in myDocuments/Alice. Does that have anything to do with importing your own objects? Please I could really use some help on this!

The quick and easy answer to this is no. Currently Alice 3 or Alice 3.1 doesn't support user imported 3D objects.
http://alice3.pbworks.com/w/page/59015092/Alice%203_1%20FAQ#Import3D Can a user import their own 3D models (and if not is this feature in the works)? We are creating a pathway in which people will be able to create their own 3D models that have been created using 3D modeling software tools. (Alice is not a tool for creating 3D models.) The 3D models to be imported into Alice will be required to use internal skeletal structure and guidelines that we will provide. The internal skeletal structure will be needed, to provide for consistency within the gallery hierarchy used in Alice 3. |
Ok thank you.

Don't hold your breath
Don't hold your breath on this one. That promise of an import pathway is two years old at least.

Just a suggestion, I would use Alice 2.4... its a more finished product...
