Problems with List
 

I have been doing some summer research with alice and I am currently working with list. The problem I am having is that whenever I save the program that I am working on and come back to it there are items in the list, and the list does quite behave properly afterwards. Any suggestions?

Depending on where you created the list, a list will revert to the initial/default values either when you finish running a method or when you end the program. See Dick Baldwin's tutorials ([url]http://www.dickbaldwin.com/tocalice.htm[/url] ) for more details on when variables are initialized and reset.

With bug reports it is useful to be as specific as possible. That way people can reproduce your problem. When you say that it doesn't behave properly, it would be useful to state what you did, what you expected, and what you actually got.
For example, did you just save the world [:) ], or did you exit Alice, and then restart? And is that issue of list contents separate from the "not behaving properly" you write about?

It is also useful when reporting problems to come up with the smallest example you can that fails. Unfortunately, none of these things is particularly easy or convenient for someone having problems in the middle of a project they're trying to finish. I often wish one could run parts of a program backwards, to see how it got to the failure point....

Thanks that was my first post. To be specific about the problem, I put a list visualization into the world with no items initially. Then I used the method insert item at beginning, I do this with a few items, then remove them with remove from end and remove from index. After all methods are done and I stop the world and often I cannot play the world again, or if I try to restart the world I get an error and I cant play the world again anyway and the only way to be able to play the world again is to close alice completly.

I have attached a jpeg to show what the world looks like when I open the world every time I make a program that uses a list.
