How Do I Create 3D Alice Models

How do I create 3D Alice Models? I know you can, but how? I don't mean by using shapes, I mean the real thing. I want to create a Santa, and a model of Santa in his sleigh. Reindeer and all. Can somebody make one for me, or give me directions on how to make one? Any help is appreciated.

Try using blender, a 3d modeling program, and converting the saved 3D object to a .ase which Alice can import

Where can I download Blender at? I Googled it, and it didn't find any results.

Thanks. I'll try it out over the weekend. However, I may need some help using the software because from what I hear, these 3D modeling programs aren't very easy or user friendly.

Go to the google sketchup model warehouse, download a pre-made one, and convert it.
Go to the google sketchup model warehouse, download a pre-made one, and convert it.
Two questions...
1.) Does Alice support Google Sketchup Models?
2.) Where can I find the 3D Model Warehouse at?

Please answer for me. Thank you!

1. Alice only supports .ase and .a2c files, unfortunately. However, you can convert 3D Warehouse models (.skp and .dae) into .ase format to be imported into Alice. Converting Objects Into Alice Format

2. Right here.
Well MAMA can make models? Right in Alice itself
What is MAMA?

jediaction 12-21-2010 08:00 PM

Clickme Its ALice but a different version

David B 12-21-2010 08:03 PM

It looks like they stole the Alice template, and changed the software's name.

David B 12-21-2010 08:15 PM

Please convert these to a2c. for me.

I tried MAMA, and I don't like it. I think it is creepy that it looks almost EXACTLY like Alice.

jediaction 12-22-2010 03:56 PM

It is alice! Its a kidish version to make movies....

David B 12-22-2010 04:09 PM

That is what bothers me! In my opinion, even though it says it contains material created by CMU (Alice), it should be comsidered copyright infiringment.

jediaction 12-22-2010 04:27 PM

ok

How can it be considered copyright infringe when in the Alice license it says

"Redistribution and use in source and binary forms, with or without modification, are permitted..."

Alice license also says it has to have that message at startup. Meirs wanted to have Alice in its name, but that would be copyright infringment. He didnt steal anything. He made a better version of Alice. It is much more stable, with many bugs fixed, has built in modelling with .obj import. It has a direct upload to youtube button. It exports worlds as a standalone exe. It comes in many languages. Its saves are more stable, it has more features and it is alltogether better in my view. It imports Alice worlds.
Only issues are that its based off of Alice 2.0 (or storyelling Alice?), not 2.2, and its highly underused by the community, with no a2w export, so posting a Mama world would mean nobody would play it.

David B 12-23-2010 07:28 PM

OK. Everyone is entitled to thier own opinion, and my opinion is that MAMA is a creepy software.

jediaction 12-23-2010 09:49 PM

and no one should have a problem with that:D
