What are you using to create objects?

What tools do people make use of for designing objects?

gabe 09-07-2005 10:48 AM

3d Studio Max is used to design Alice objects.

what is 3d studio max?

gabe 09-09-2005 03:15 PM

3D Studio Max is a modeling/animation program. You can find a detailed definition of what it is and can do on Wikipedia.

You can also check out the 3DS Max homepage .

Are there any free progs that I can use to model in alice?

What file format may I import from 3D Studio Max to Alice in? Are the 'limb's determined by each object used in the 3D model?

Also since you mentioned Wikipedia, and given the history of Alice, might I suggest you make an entry of it?

No, there is nothing currently available that will allow you to model in Alice. We are looking into a possible solution that we will update you on shortly.

i haven't tested this, but you can probably use the 'Unreal Static Mesh' Exporter

direct link

with Blender

Blender

(may need to use a slightly older version) to export some content (Unreal format is highly related to ASE). I don't think the above exporter handles animation though. May need a bit of hacking to get it working right.

Blender is Free under the GPL license (not certain what the scripts license is, have emailed the author).

If someone has a bit of programming skill, enhancing/creating exporters for Blender is really quite easy.

Here are docs on ASE format

Also I read that the Milkshape 3d software exports to ASE.
