Default Is Alice for me? - 08-03-2011, 11:34 PM

I was an IT Professional working on Mainframes for 5 years. I quit my job for family reasons for 2 years now and want to get back to my career.

I wish to change my technology to Java and have been looking at interactive ways to learn this language. 2 years has been a long break and I am really struggling hard to get back to studying a new technology.

Sitting and studying Java with a book isnt working for me at all.

Is Alice for me? Will this help me learn Java?

Please advise.

Alice is not very much like java you don't code in any language it has a drag/drop Interface If you want to learn java I suggest getting a book and or watching YouTube tutorials surprisingly YouTube is great for learning to code
Keep in mind I don't know java but I learned basic doing what I desribed

Best of luck

In Alice you use drag/drop interfaces. I learn horribly from books. If you ever want to learn a programming language I know a guy who has 1700ish video tutorials on his channel with any programming language you can think of (almost) <- is first Java Tutorial. Watch 'Java Programming Tutorial 4' if your ready for the Hello World program. Please note that his method of downloading the JDK is a bit outdated, you should probably get it from oracles website instead of suns.

Have fun with java!
