Lightbulb Interesting... - 06-10-2011, 12:07 AM

I just noticed that you can save the camera as an object and then put a second camera in your Alice World.

It doesn't do anything useful and I don't know what you could do with it, but it seemed like it could be helpful (maybe...probably not)

Good luck!

Default basic plan. - 06-10-2011, 12:52 AM

It will be a plane game, cos' I like planes and I think it will be basic...
I have a basic plan, It will be like this...
there would be a dummy, call it 1.
the world will calculate the distance to planes and 1 in xyz.
it would save these xyz in each digits on a different file(tedious i Know,)
and then the mirror world will replicate the world using the digits.

I have figured out how to change strings to numbers btw...
plan made by r00m14. Do not copy.

I say go for it! If you can figure out how, please tell us how you did it! I would like to make a few multi-player games myself, but I don't know how.

I tried something like this once. I made an object split the screen vertically, and made it so that when you move left, the model of the person who's moving on the other persons screen would move and it would give the impression that you are moving. The same thing would go for the other way around. If they move than they're model would move too.

When the reached the screenline they would dissapear and when the came back over they would reappear. When you shot them they would die and it would show the 3D text "Player <PlayerWhoWon> Wins!". Never developed far enough to get anywhere good.

I think it sounds cool. Possibly somehow making Alice communicate with a server of some sort that could keep player rankings for a matchmaking lobby of FPS multiplayer game. That would be sick. I think it would deserve a sticky if you did it.

I made something a while back that demonstrated several Alice windows working together and communicating. I'm not sure where it is though.

That's fine. You do python? You need to speed it up - there's lag, I don't know if that one was threaded, if you can find it then I will check and change it if it isn't.

Yeah, I tried that as well, trying to go scripted camera angles (think Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy VII, or The Terminator: Dawn of Fate, and you'll get the idea). It didn't work, and, okay, I admit scripted camera angles are usually reserved for cutscenes, ports and remakes these days. Seriously, those scripted camera angles were my only complaint of The Terminator: Dawn of Fate. Transitions between screens made my movement messed up at times, with me then somehow turning around back into the area I had just left. That was simply frustrating. But other than that, I found it to be a good game.
