Default The bike game - 04-24-2011, 11:56 AM

hey everybody,i am working on a game where the user is this bike boy and your going through the dessert. this game is for a grade and i ran into a few issues and need some help. I used a method of re-spawning objects and i am having some bugs that i cant figure out whats causing them. basically what happens is a rock or something will re-spawn, the immediately re-spawn again and again. and it usually all the items at once constantly re-spawning.

Thank you to all who can help and give some time to view my game

(also side question, if anyone can look at the tilt detector method and can help me improve it, that would be greatly appreciated)

The Bike Game

*edit*
heres the updated version, with the spawn fixed, but now i need more help, sometimes you will randomly die, i cant figure out why, any sugestions?

I should look into this sometime soon.
Maybe ask X. He knows how to make objects spawn.

I was taught well...

ok well i think i got it now. i had to make each object have its own re-spawn code, and that seems to work, now i just need to fix the tilt thing, its driving me nuts that it doesn't quite work the way i want it to

Question 04-24-2011, 05:26 PM

Try replacing it, try ensuring its opacity is at 0 and it isn't showing, try even using an invisible shape instead of a dummy in this case.

Uh... dummy object showing up at runtime... wut???

Does this happen every time you run the world? Dummy objects aren't supposed to show up like that.

If the problem persists, then it would probably be best to do what arty said, replace it, maybe with another dummy object. If you could post it, that would be nice too. I want to take a look at this curious case.

Dummies can't be set to is showing=false or opacity=0, they have no such properties.

Though I do like the idea of using a different object instead. I would just tell it to set point of view to the dummy, then delete the dummy

so i went in and replaced all the dummy objects with brand new ones, redid the code and look...

i dont understand it, how can a dummy object be visible?????

The only thing I can think of is replacing your dummies with invisible objects. I have no idea why this isn't working.
