is thier a way to have 2d text if so how

There's two ways you could do this:

-You can use a regular 3D text object and set its extrusion to 0, which will make the text flat. (It will permanently flat, so if you want the text to be 3D again, you would have to make another 3D Text object)

-For higher quality text, you can create the text in Paint or something. Then add it to your world by adding it as a billboard (found in the File menu).

I recommend setting the extrusion to 0.01. Setting it to 0 can cause errors later on.

If you're making text for buttons though, or maybe want to add some cool effects around the text and whatnot, you can make an image in a free program like paint.NET, and then use the 'text' tool, to pick your font, size, italics, bold, underline, and than you can use the paint brush to add things like borders, and pretty much everything you need ;D
