Default Helpful feature not known by many... - 05-31-2012, 02:04 PM

Today I decided that just incase for everyone who didn't know about these features in Alice, I'm describing them now:

If you select the camera and open the "seldom Used Properties" button, a list will appear with the ability to change the camera vertical and horizontal angles. You can also change the near clipping Plane distance and the far. These are very helpful for whenever your holding item happens to get to close to the camera, it will start dissapearing because it's to close...You can now change this. Every game I've played with the guns and what not, they all have this issue so I'm assuming not many know about this. If everyone tries selecting random objects in the game such as the "world" object, and you open the tab for "seldom Used Properties", lots of really neat features are there. I encourage everyone to check it out because they are really cool and will help anyone when making First Person Games. Thank you.

Update: After fooling around with this discovery, I have had a save error and a crash. Be careful on how many objects you use this on. I used it to make my gun shiny in Hero's, and that's as far as I'll take it. Be careful.

Seldom used properties are also useful for changing an object's emissive color or specular highlight color when editing the simple "Color" property doesn't do much.

Come on, you know you want to try it.

Right. The specular feature is amazing though for Alice. If only it was more powerful.

It gives models a metallic look somewhat.

Indeed. Specular effects are to make the object look shiny and more effected by light. I use them all the time with Unity 3D. When my Dead Lab demo comes out, you'll see what I mean.
