Default If/else - 12-28-2010, 10:28 PM

Had a new assignment with my DCCCD class and created an Alice program where I use IF/ELSE statements to interact with the user's response to the question, "How old are you?" They needed to be 21, so I utilized the math functions in order to respond to the user's input.

The interactive capabilities of programming are exactly what I was hoping to learn through taking this course.

Still not use to the fact that some objects (hands, forearms, etc.) don't have the same axis of rotation as the rest of the person, so a ROTATE LEFT 1/4 REVOLUTION of the hand won't result in the same angle as it would for the forearm. Anyone know an easy way to breeze through this common occurence.

I don't quite understand what it is you are talking about, so unless you upload the file so I can look at it, I don't think I can help you with this one. sorry

Unfortunately, no, there is no easier way to to do this. Its a lot of trial and error with moving body parts... I recommend using poses to move models of people if that isn't what your already doing. Using poses can look much more realistic and, from my experience, is much easier to code. Hope this helps.

When I had written my original post, I hadn't taken that into consideration, but that is a very good idea. Also, if the pose you wan't isn't available, you can always capture the pose. If you don't know how to do this, tell me, and I will make a little example for you.

You can use the axis of another object to move around, just use the "as seen by" feature under the little drop down arrow at the end of a move/turn/roll etc. tile.

I have mostly moved on from Alice, but may still respond to messages if important [¬º-°]¬

Thanks for the help.

I've started using SET POSE more to accomplish what I want...and I think the "as seen by" feature will definitely help me rotate things better.

Thanks again.
