Resident Penguin RPG

Hi. I'm wanting to make a version of Resident Penguin that includes more of a role playing environment. I have a few questions:

x2495iiii - I'm wondering if this is OK with you, since you started the series.

All People - If you have an operating system other than windows XP, please post saying a place in the filesystem where save data can be put. Make sure it's user specific!

All People - How does everyone feel about a game that connects to the internet. This may be used for features such as a "Link room" where people see each other and can talk. I'm working on a possible host, such as heliohost.org.

That's about it for now, but there'll be more questions.

I guess I'd have to know more about it. What are your plans for the game, exactly?

It will be an rpg game in which the penguin walks around and talks to people, as well as getting into battles. You know, like runescape, WOW, and that stuff, hopefully with multilayer if I can scrape it up.

No I meant more like:

Most RPGs have storylines to them. RP doesn't. How do you plan to address that?

The penguin doesn't speak or show emotion in RP. Is he supposed to gain a personality for the RPG?

Do you plan on doing this entirely by yourself, or is this a community project, or did you want my help, or what?

What made you want to make RP into an RPG?

Stuff like that.

I played the game, and I thought that it lacked a storyline. This is one thing that I LOVE to see in games. I was hoping to possibly enter the first version in the game contest. I will probably do a lot by myself, but I'll be adding some features like bug reporting so that the community can contribute. The storyline might go like this:

The resident penguin had a rough childhood.

He has a feeling that everyone is out to get him.

He'll go around and try to learn about his past, help others (Hah) etc.

So yeah, I'll try to build his emotion based on his past life in RP 1-3 (And 4

)

Honestly, as interesting as that sounds, it just doesn't seem to fit RP very well. It was never meant to have a storyline. The penguin was never meant to show any emotion or have any personality or a dark past. It was, and is, just pure, unhindered action gameplay.

Though I'm glad you enjoyed RP enough to want to help improve it and I admit making it into an RPG would be a very fun idea, forcing a storyline into a game which was never meant to have one just doesn't seem right.

Ive already thought of this before and i commented saying this at the same time i said Hero's Online will be made
