Default Halo 3 Starry Starry Night Trailer! - 06-21-2007, 01:17 AM

I was not sure how to put this video on here, so you will have to watch it on Youtube. This took me 3 weeks to make. Please give it a good rating and leave a comment. Tell me what you think. I would like to know what others think about it. I put in a lot of hard work into this and I think it payed off. One of the professors at UAB thought it was so good that he wants me to come to UAB when I get out of high school to learn programming. There was an Alice Film Festival held there and one of the creators of Alice was there too. She also thought my video was good. So please watch it and enjoy.

Smile Very Nice! - 06-21-2007, 11:10 AM

Very nice work - I really think Alice's capabilities for this sort of thing tend to be underrated.

You could zip the file and post it here, but I think going to YouTube is by far the better route (be sure to include Alice as a key word for search). They are set up to handle many videos (which takes an incredible amount of server memeory), have a good key word search capability (good enough that a link to another Alice video came up automatically) and an established audience.

Do be sure to post the link to the video on this forum.

Nearly everyone who is at all interested can now view videos on YouTube (although sometimes with fairly poor video quality). With any other route you often have CODEC incompatibility problems. If you are worried about the quality issue - treat the YouTube posting as a preview and put in a link to a high resolution version.

One question - how did you capture the video from Alice?

Default Camtasia - 06-21-2007, 03:40 PM

When I went to UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham) for an Alice Film Festival, I talked to Dr. Gray, the computer professor there. He showed my video at the festival and put everyone's videos on the UAB website. He had to use Camtasia to capture it. He has a super fast computer, so it did not slow down the frame rate much.

Chris101b would have to answer that question for sure - it may be something he made. However you can get close with the Knight - hide some armor parts, eliminate the texture and play with the color parameters (including the "seldom used" ones).

(Zipped folder contains an .a2c version of the example shown in the photo.)

If you do, try experimenting with the lower body armor and with the color characterististics of separate body parts. (I didn't do either.) It will probably give you a better robot and also increase your familarity with the object and sub-object hierarchy that Alice does support.

On a Windows PC, just click on the file and "Send to"/"Compressed (zipped) folder." Not sure how you do it on a Mac - but it should be something similar.
