Default Sound Files - 03-02-2012, 04:41 PM

We are working a platform game and we made a noise to go with the jumping game. We were told that mp3 or WAV files work with ALICE. After much sound editing we try to import it into ALICE and it keeps giving us errors. Has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it.

Could you post the error?

A few guesses that might be right:

1. The sound type got changed through the editing process. Audacity and others will do this, changing them to .aup unless you specifically say export as

2. The sound file may be too big.

Well the sound file is 128 KBs long for like .397 seconds of sound.
We got LAME to convert the files to mp.3 after audacity and I've checked and know for sure it's an mp3. Do you have any other suggestions.

Again, post the error message that pops up when you try to put it into the world.

Also, as a side note, you don't need a converter for audacity, you just need to go to file>export as wav/mp3.

you need the LAME to be able to run(or convert) in audacity if I remember right, because I had to install that aswell, and as for your problem, it might be the Alice you are using, for some users it works, others it does not, try re downloading alice if it gets to that point, but try using .wav formats most since that seems to be the best for alice since it is least compress allowing it to be used easier for alice, and lastly, it might be how you are adding the sound into your world causing the error, so like Tau said, paste the error you are getting into the thread so we can see whats going on

Use Audacity to convert your sound files to wav. The file will be much larger than a mp3 file, but a wave file with a PCM encoding is guarantee to work with Alice.
