My guess is either the object you were trying to convert wasn't a model or wasn't in an acceptable format.

If the model file is highlighted in a color other than white and loads a preview in the preview window, it can be converted to .ase format with Biturn.

Okay, so where do I put the scripts for the importing/exporting in Blender on a Mac? I've got it great up to there...

What file type should I save my Sketch Up file as? 2D? 3D? Google earth? What?

Don't use the save function, use the Export option and export it as a .dae file.

It's the third option at the very top of the list when you click the dropdown menu for the possible formats you can save it to. It will say "3ds max ascii (.ASE)"

I click export, from the dropdown munu, the available are 3D Model, 2D Model, and Get Pro 3D Exporters. When I click 3D, the only format available is Google Earth (*.kmz)

That post was meant for Zack Strife, that's why I quoted him.

For your problem, there are other formats. Click the Export>3d model option again, then when the browse window pops up, click the Save As dropdown and select .dae file.

Next to the "Format:"? There's only one option, google earth.
