Default Zombie Slayer RPG - 12-13-2010, 06:17 PM

This is my ultimate creation; a real-time rpg with a multitude of abilities. You control a combination Mage/Knight.

Controls:
W: Run Forward
S: Backstep
A: Turn Left (Double-Tap to sidestep)
D: Turn Right (Double-Tap to sidestep)
Q: Jump
U: Homing Magic Bolt (If used when the zombie is already dead, the magic bolt enters a holding pattern until the zombie respawns)
H: Fortify Alloys in Sword
K: Fortify Alloys in Armor
J: Heal
Spacebar: Slash (While going up in a jump, does less damage with a larger hit zone and blows the zombie forward from you. While going down in a jump, does even less damage with an even larger circular hit zone and knocks the zombie a short distance away from you.) (The actual physical slash can stack with the additional effects)
Y: If you have died and wait for your Mana to regen to full, this allows you to revive yourself to 1 HP. Will Save vs. Death!

You gain experience points for the primary stats as you use abilities pertaining to them, allowing for specialisation according to your playstyle. Additionally, you have a wisdom-based danger sense that will slowly point towards the zombie.

That was a sweet game, your # system is very well done and i like how you get a little homing missile and your zombie moves in a scary like fashion. lol

Well.....I have a few things to say.


PROS: Interesting, quite fun and interesting interface.

CONS: Bad camera angle, no sound, choppy movment which is barely noticable, but could be fixed

Awesome game but a few questions.
What does SP mean?
Is the grey # your points?
Does Int affect magic damage?
How many times do you have to push H or K? The weapon (K) takes a lot longer.
What makes your Wis increase?
Is there a max for your stats?

I haven't had any opportunities to work on this recently. I can't quite remember if I was in the middle of an edit when I stopped, but I'll upload my most recent revision anyways. Assuming I didn't leave something half-finished when I stopped, this version should include:
Much lower xp requirements to level up.
A range limit, reduced mana cost and improved animation on the magic bolt.
Much faster progression of the zombie's stats (which shouldn't plateau anymore).
Smoother player movement.
Much lower protection from your starting armor (leaving plenty of room for noticable improvement).
And an improved camera angle.

SP means Stamina Points.
The grey # is your score (which increases by an amount equal to the zombie's xp whenever you get a kill).
Intelligence is the primary factor for determining the strength of all magical abilities, except for mana regeneration and perhaps the heal spell.
Using the fortify alloy spells gives the corresponding equipment stat an amount of xp equal to (2*Intelligence+Wisdom)/3. A stat requires itself^2 xp to level up. I believe Armor starts at a much higher value, thus requiring more castings to level up.
You get Wisdom xp for regenerating mana, casting heal and reviving yourself. I can't quite remember if any other spells give Wisdom xp.
There is no maximum for the stats.

How do you get a key into the 'while' event. I'm trying to make a game using WASD and I can't figure it out.
