The Alice team read your recent post with great interest, because it reflected some discussions we had early on when the Sims opportunity presented itself. I think you'll find...

William Shatner/Star Trek Bridge in Alice

Just a few points of clarification:

Yes, we did create a version of the original Star Trek series Enterprise bridge, and William Shatner "stepped inside" it via Virtual Reality headset when...

He-Builder / She-builder

Yes, there will certainly be some sort of mechanism
for creating 3D characters in Alice v3.0

Our hope is that it will feel more like the Sims game's avatar creator than like the he/she-builder,...

2.0 vs. 3.0

Your insights are all correct - we have finite resources, especially people, and we are focusing all our energies on the design and development of 3.0 - especially given the strong desire people have...

Alice running slowly -> more RAM will help

It's impossible to know for sure, but I strongly suspect the problem here is that you are memory-starved. While we cite 128 meg as the minimal acceptable RAM configuration, Alice runs slowly with...

Using Alice v2.0 for profit

There are no limitations - the Alice v2.0 software is provided as a free public service by Carnegie Mellon University. You may, for example, teach a for-profit course using the software.

Compressed down files with deleted things in them

First, I'm glad the community found the "rezip" work-around.

Another solution would be to "save as" under a new filename - the "clean save" will avoid the gaps (which, as you have surmised, we...

Three quick caveats:

This is not heavily tested, so I would not be surprised if...
