So you're an indie game developer? Interesting.
You interested in being an indie game developer? |
Probably not. Doesn't pay well enough. I'll probably end up with a boring regular job.

I'm only a freshie in high school so I have the leisure to do that... :) Later when I grow up I plan on working for a real company... I see you found the bread crumbs... |
You made a mistake using Weebly.
|
You made a mistake using Weebly.
Could you please elaborate? I'd like to know what makes Weebly a bad thing to use. |
Could you please elaborate? I'd like to know what makes Weebly a bad thing to use.
Agreed... |
Could you please elaborate? I'd like to know what makes Weebly a bad thing to use.
When I used Weebly on my Windows XP, it told me it had picked up a trojan horse from the website Weebly. It happened years ago. |
When I used Weebly on my Windows XP, it told me it had picked up a trojan horse from the website Weebly.
It happened years ago.
Well then, I guess that I won't be using Weebly any time soon. |

I dont think that was weebly... as its a massive company and seems quite trustworthy. |
i dont think that was weebly... As its a massive company and seems quite trustworthy.
oh yeah sure. Like the blue screen of death didn't tell me what website the trojan came from. no no no no |
Oh...
Oh no... that's weird. It never did that to me. I use Weebly for my website and never got trampled by a trojan horse. How long ago was it... maybe Weebly doesn't do that anymore.
EDIT: Oh oops, never mind sorry I misread your post Funnybone I see that that it happened a couple years ago. |
Weebly gave me the trojan back in 2011.
|
Weebly gave me the trojan back in 2011.
LOL my computers been having a couple viruses/problems recently, maybe I should reconsider Weebly... |

At least you don't use Vista... |
Ya...
At least you don't use Vista...
I agree... :( My dad bought Windows Vista, but had to switch to XP because it was giving him some problems LOL |

Windows Vista is pretty much a remake of Windows Millennium, and Windows 7 is pretty much a remake of Windows 2000. |

BSOD's don't include references to URL's, just the stop error and the associated files, along with the standard warning text. And Weebly isn't flagged as a malicious domain by Avast. Did you collect the Event Log data from the crash? If it happens again, I recommend downloading a program called WhoCrashed and running it to see what the root cause was. It's free, but only for the first month after you download it, so it's perfect for checking singular instances. |

I never said anything about BSOD's including references. My Norton 360 had mentioned something and said the author of the trojan was Weebly. Not going to repeat myself. |
Did you read the entire thread before responding to my last post?
Yes.
I never said anything about BSOD's including references.
The post I quoted did. Either you were being sarcastic and wrong, or you were being rude and only stating the obvious.
My Norton 360 had mentioned something and said the author of the trojan was Weebly.
First time in this thread you've mentioned that.
Not going to repeat myself.
Can't repeat something you never said. Usually I overlook your unusual posting style, but I'm not about to let you make a student think his website is a security risk without hard evidence. |
1 thing you forgot:
Weebly gave me the trojan back in 2011.
OH... |
That doesn't prove anything. In fact, it makes your case weaker since the older a security report is, the less likely it is to be relevant to the present.
|
But a past happening is usually a key to a future happening.
Because I got the trojan back in 2011 on my old Windows XP, and today, Raven used Weebly. Because our brains have been built in a unique way we are pretty much a walking super computer. With the unfortunate addition of having a brain running Windows Vista. (Insult intended) And because our brains are the biggest computer (not a computer, but you might know the term) we can fit almost anything into it. With the addition to remembering things, I gave Raven a said warning about Weebly. So... yeah. Weebly is dangerous. Go to VirusTotal, take the Weebly main page URL, and put it into VirusTotal URL Scan, and boom. 20% Negative. |
A negative rating from the community minority for a service I've never heard of in the security industry is even less convincing.
A quick Googling shows that it's a very well reviewed and reputable site, with positive reviews from well-established sites like PC Mag: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2461594,00.asp along with many other positive reviews from smaller, independent reviewers. I don't see any mentions of security concerns in any of those reviews. The point is, unless you have evidence (a report from a reputable source, modern data, etc) that Weebly is still, or has ever been, a security risk, don't say it is. This discussion is no longer beneficial or relevant to the thread's original purpose. Do not continue it. |
Anyways... was my site good... ish? :)... ish? :)
|
Yes, it was good........ish:)
|
I didn't have any problems with it.
What are your plans for it? |
I didn't have any problems with it.
What are your plans for it?
As a 'starter' website, since its free, mainly I will be posting games I have made on it. :) If I ever make a good game, and get money :) I will most likely make a 'real' site for it... |
Html! 😸
|
Html!
Hyper text markup language? Are you saying learn it? As I already know basic html... |
Heh..
If you knew how to code HTML, you wouldn't be using Weebly, then. 😁
|

You could learn a thing or two about tactfulness. Just sayin'.... Anyways, to Raven: what kind of games are you interested in making? Shooters, platformers, RPG's, sports, etc.? I'm curious.:) |
Define tactfulness, please.

That's like saying "If you're a mechanic, why didn't you build your own car?" It doesn't always make sense to make something from scratch, even if you know exactly how to do so, when easier solutions are available. And a smart guy like you should be able to Google "tactfulness." |

Puzzle or skill/twitch are probably easier.
Enemy AI and physics, two of the most difficult parts of coding, are effectively optional for both genres. Character models/sprites are optional as well, meaning less time can be spent on art and more on programming, which is an important conservation when you're working alone. Think Tetris or Sinuous, both of which were critically acclaimed and I believe were made by one person each. However, I feel like easy isn't what you should be going for. Fun is. You'll be working for a long time with no fuel other than the entertainment you're getting from making the game, and the desire to see the finished product. Coding isn't always fun. It gets boring and stressful quite often, actually. What keeps you going is how fun you know the game will be when it's done. |

Can I just ask, do you hate on everything? |
