Is Alice appropriate for a bright 6th grader?

I was wondering if my pretty bright 6th grade daughter would be able to have some fun with Alice. I have a little programming experience just introductory college courses (Fortran, C, Machine Language) but maybe I could help her. I just don't want to start something that would only be frustrating to her.

I was thinking this might be something fun for her during the summer and put webkinz on the back burner.

So what do you think?

With some help, a bright 6th grader should be able to have some fun with Alice 2.0.

You should also take a look at MIT's Scratch. It is somewhat easier to use, documented better, provides more in the way of music, etc., and is better supported. In addition, there is a user's forum that may be better suited for a sixth grade student than this forum, which is mainly frequented by high school and undergraduate college students. The Scratch forum also provides lots and lots of kids projects that your student can easily run online to whet her interest. See http://scratch.mit.edu/

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll have to check it out.
