Sorry, I am new to Alice and I just need to know how to get this jet on top of the carrier, but the jet will only move along the plane of water (no pun intended) How to I move an object vertically??

the fastest way is just hold down shift as you click on it and then drag the mouse while still holding shift. You can also click on add objects, and to the left of the window are a bunch of buttons for this.

Thanks dakota95, Alice on mac wouldn't load that the first few times I opened it, until I got administrative permissions to download the update. My next question is if there is a way to fuse or stick one object to another, such as moving the carrier and the planes on it in one motion, so I don't have to realign all of the planes and helicopter every time I move the carrier either on purpose or accidentally.

Each object has a "vehicle" property. Set object 1's vehicle to object 2 and then whenever you move object 2, object 1 will move as well; But it wont work the other way round - if you move object 1, object 2 will not move with it.

Clicking the mouse here will make the ground move with the camera.
